Keyboard shortcuts

A short, honest list of the keyboard shortcuts that exist in askTheodor and across these docs. We list only the ones we can confirm; rather than pad this page with invented combinations, we point you to where the rest live.

Everywhere

Shortcut	Does
⌘K / Ctrl+K	Open the command palette / search — jump to a screen, find anything, or run a quick action. (Also the search shortcut on this docs site.)
← Back	The breadcrumb back control returns you to the previous screen.

⌘ vs. Ctrl

⌘ (Command) is the macOS modifier; on Windows and Linux use Ctrl for the same shortcuts.

In Chat

Shortcut	Does
Enter	Send the message in the composer.
Shift + Enter	Insert a newline instead of sending — for multi-line messages.

You can keep typing while a worker is still replying; queued messages are auto-sent when it finishes. See Chat for the full composer.

Finding more

askTheodor is mostly point-and-click, so most actions live behind on-screen buttons rather than shortcuts. The fastest way to do something by keyboard is the command palette (⌘K / Ctrl+K) — start typing what you want and run it from there. Where a button has a shortcut, it’s typically shown in its tooltip or next to its label.

When in doubt, ask Theodor

You don’t have to memorize anything. Open a Chat with Theodor and tell him what you want to do — he can carry it out or take you to the right screen.

Terms in this page

• Command palette — the ⌘K / Ctrl+K overlay for searching and running quick actions from the keyboard.
• Breadcrumb — the trail at the top of a screen showing where you are; its ← Back control returns you one step.
• Composer — the message box in Chat where you type; Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a newline.
• Modifier key — a held key that changes another key’s effect; ⌘ (Command) on macOS, Ctrl on Windows/Linux.
• Tooltip — the small hover label on a control, where an available shortcut is usually shown.
